The much-awaited clash between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is set to take place at the Wankhede Stadium on April 8, 2023. MI is looking to bounce back from their loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their opening match, while CSK has won one game and lost one.
MI has a slight advantage over CSK with three wins in their five previous encounters. In their most recent meeting, MI bowled out CSK for just 97 runs and chased the target in the 15th over.
MI Preview: MI has a strong batting line-up, with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan opening the innings. Tilak Verma was their top scorer in their first match against RCB, scoring 84 runs in 46 balls. Suryakumar Yadav has a formidable record against CSK at Wankhede, having scored 102 runs in the two games he has played there. The lack of experienced all-rounders is a concern for MI, but they have signed Riley Meredith as a replacement for Jhye Richardson, who was ruled out due to injury.
CSK Preview: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway will open the batting for CSK, with Gaikwad being the current Orange Cap holder with 149 runs (2 half-centuries). CSK has a tendency to make changes to their batting order, and they sent Shivam Dubey at number three in their second game against Lucknow Super Giants. He scored 27 off 16 balls, and his inclusion proved to be a good decision.
